INSTALLING THE DIY4x SHOCK INBOARDING KIT

You can get this and many other great products at DIY4x

  • View from the rear in stock form
  • Looking in from the passenger side wheelwell
  • Another view from the rear
  • Looking in from teh drivers side wheelwell
  • Exhaust routing
The exhaust will need to be cut off since it will interfere with the shock inboarding kit. This is a simple fix though. I will add a turn down just before the axle at a later date.
  • Centerpiece as recieved form DIY4x
  • Close up of the welds
    Great work Kert.
  • Shock mounts to be welded to the axle housing
Kert also offers these as a bolt-on. Just give him a call and ask.
  • End pieces.
These attach to the fraim rails above the rear axle. You do not need to worry about measuring for correct position since Kert designed these to use one of the stick rivets on the bump stop mount to guide you.
  • Another close up of the welds
  • Test install
  • Test install
  • bolts in the frame rail
Look close and you can see the bolt in the bump stop bracket. This is what ensures that you install it in the correct location. Nothing says that you can go crazy and mount it elsewhere though.
  • Axle cleaned and ready for weld on shock mounts
  • Lower shock mount
Leave the welding critique at the door.
  • Lower shock mount
  • Still using the old shocks.
They were shot but they did allow me to weld the lower mounts in the correct location
  • Different location
Compare this picture to the last and you can see the amount of adjustability in the shock locations.
  • Painted

  • Fully painted and installed
I finally did buy new shocks. I'll get some pics up of the finished product later.
